READING:
This week Flashy the Peacock & Fancy Nancy will be helping us collect some ‘flashy/fancy' vocabulary words. We will be Going on a Bear Hunt with Mrs. Howey; she has some fun retelling and reenactment activities planned for us! We will also explore some funny poetry and listen to a chapter book about the adventures of a pig named Mercy Watson!
· Reading Folders—Please be sure to return your child’s reading folder, if you haven’t already done so. We will be cleaning out our book boxes and bringing home a baggie of ‘good-fit’ books that your child can read all summer long!
· Summer Reading Program—Attached you will find info regarding the Summer Reading Program at the library. They have a lot of great events planned to promote reading, learning, & fun! I would encourage you to post it on your refrigerator so you can keep track of the upcoming events.
· Raz-Kids—I will be sending home your child’s Raz-Kids login card. Your child will have access to it all summer long and can continue to read ‘good-fit’ books!
SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES:
This week we will focus on Summer Safety. Our friend Scrappy Squirrel will make a final visit to talk to the students about how to stay safe this summer! We will continue to work on our final character trait - Diligence! We will be painting rocks to place on the playground as a reminder of all the good character traits we’ve learned this year and also as a pledge to continue to uphold them in the years to come!
MATH:
This week we will continue to work on telling time to the hour.
WRITING:
We will be wrapping up our Spring Journals and are excited to bring them home to share with you! We are also finishing up our Very Hungry Kindergartner Booklets that we’ve been working on all year long. The students will be using their Story Buddy app to create a digital story this week about what they would like to grow in their gardens.
