KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM:
The location of the Kindergarten Program has been changed and will take place in the Multi-Use Room this Thursday at 1:45.  Please park in the main parking lot and enter through the gym/auditorium lobby doors.  After the program, you are welcome to sign your child out and take them home with you or they can also go home on the bus.

FIELDTRIP:
The Kindergarten Classes will be going to Kettunen Center this Friday, June 3rd. We will leave school around 8:30 and return around 2:30.  Your child will need:
1) A sack lunch—no glass please
2) Sunscreen—if you feel they will need it
3) Appropriate clothing for outside activities—wear your gray Kindergarten t-shirt
*We will provide a morning and afternoon snack and bug spray if needed.
Parent chaperones are welcome, but we ask that childcare arrangements be made for younger siblings. Permission slips and $5 need to be returned ASAP.
TICKS:  PLEASE be sure to check your child thoroughly after we return from our fieldtrip; as we will be outside and in the woods for most of the day. Doctors recommend checking their hair, inside elbows, behind the knees, under arm pits, and other ‘cracks’ and crevices. We are hoping not to bring any unwanted ‘pests’ home!!

PTO BIKE-A-THON:
Just a reminder to turn in your pledge envelope ASAP if your child is planning to participate in the Bike-a-thon this Saturday.

READING:
This week our class will be reading stories about sorting different groups of things in new ways. Children will learn how to sort objects by size, shape, color, weight, or texture.
· Vocabulary—sort & similar - Practice sorting toys, cereal, laundry etc.
· High-Frequency Word—come & does
· Category Words—opposites—Say a word and ask your child to think of a word with the opposite meaning.
· Phonics: long e & the digraph th—Play a rhyming game with your child. Say a word with the long sound, and have your child think of a rhyming word. For example, encourage your child to say and write words that rhyme with the word he, such as me, be, and we.

WRITING:
This week we will finish up our latest informational text about butterflies, plants, or frogs by adding some text features, editing, & completing our WOW covers.  We will also experiment with a new digital storytelling app - Toontastic Pirates Jr.

MATH:
This week we will learn about functions, rules, and patterns while adding and subtracting.  We will also practice building numbers using a variety of strategies and configurations.

Please be sure to return your
Library book on or before Wednesday!
